Hitachi Goes Ultra-Thin

At the CES show in Las Vegas, I saw the debut of Hitachi’s UT series (ultra-thin), a series of LCD televisions only 1.5” thick. The televisions were available in Japan last year and have finally made their way to the U.S. Hitachi achieved the development of a 1.5” thick TV by redesigning the circuitry and parts within its LCDs. The result is a seemingly impossibly thin monitor that fits anywhere. Hitachi’s UT series is initially available in 32”, 37” and 42” sizes.
